Much to think about

We are home now and have quite a bit to think about. What do we do with this information we now have in our heads and hearts. We have a responsibility to be the voice of our brothers and sisters in Kenya. Do we stand for them or walk away. Please stand with us and continue support of our sister church along with the other support groups we had the opportunity to be apart of. Help us to raise awareness of the needs in Nairobi and all of Kenya. Thank you for your support by reading these blogs, praying each day for our team and the people we were with. We look forward to sharing our stories with you. Don't hesitate to ask!

Text Update Friday Afternoon

We are doing great! We are still in Naivasha, and for the last couple of days we have had no internet access. Aldo and I climbed Longonot volcano (9,108 feet) with three of the guys from the 10/10 Project. I almost had a coronary. Ha ha ha. The rest of the team are on a boat ride. We will email tomorrow evening. Blessings, Dave

Some much needed rest.

Today the team will be traveling to a beautiful place called Fisherman's Camp located on the shores of Lake Naivasha for a couple days. They will be meeting up will another team from the 10/10 Project that has been in Kenya as well. Pray that they would get rest and be able to talk through some of the incredible and emotional things they have experienced.

Tuesday 9:40pm (Kenya time)

The trip from Nairobi was very long but very beautiful. We passed through some amazing country. At the present we're at an amazing orphanage called Shangilia ("Rejoice" in Swahili). This is truly a wonderful place. There are 45 children here and we are having a blast. Pam, Sherry, Aldo, Jacob, Andrew, and myself all played soccer with the kids this afternoon. It was great... I scored a goal! We've been connecting with the kids this evening through conversations about where we are from and how we feel about Barack Obama. What is most fascinating about this part of Kenya is that we are in Pastor Brown's hometown. We were not aware of that when we were coming here but quickly made the connection. Today for lunch we ate with Pastor Brown's parents and family. It was a warm and beautiful reception and totally a God orchestrated moment. Right now everyone's getting ready for bed... I'm sitting in the high school boy's bunk room/dining hall/meeting area... I can hear the children singing outside... I wish all of you could be here to experience this with the whole team. It is fascinating how this orphanage does so much to sustain themselves: They capture water from a spring and pump it into a gravity feed water system that is chlorinated, they farm all kinds of things from bananas to tea to corn to peanuts... they have a milk cow and tons of chicken's which they sell the eggs to help with costs. They also have a very unique septic system that is earth friendly and actually turns the waste into compost. And the kids are really good at soccer! But did I mention I scored a goal. Tomorrow we travel to Lake Naivasha for a little rest... we've been going at breakneck speed since we landed. The team is doing really well, supporting each, staying healthy, and having a great time. I hope to blog again in the next day or so... or one of the team members may be able to. Pray for Kenya, pray for the children of Shangilia, pray for rain in the dry areas, pray for God to glorify himself in this land of beautiful people. Asante (Thank you) David

CBO Meeting

A CBO stands for a Community Based Organization. Some act as banks offering members small loans to start businesses, others are support groups for single mothers, those affected and infected byHIV/AIDS and more. Tree Planting on Redeemed's new property

Jesus said, "What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade." Mark 4:30-32 NIV Pray that these trees will provide physical shade, encouragement and comfort for the people that will walk by and under. More than that pray that God will be using the team to plant spiritual "seeds" that will grow large and result in praise and glory to the King and His Kingdom. What will be.

Monday 4:32pm Kenya time -- 8:32am Texas time

We've been traveling all day to western Kenya... we're headed to a children's home that 10/10 is considering as a partner. Right now we're in the city of Kericho. We passed through miles of tea plantations and have stopped for some tea and a quick bite at a hotel in the city. Yesterday was a long but fulfilling day. Pastor Brown saved me from preaching the 7:00 service but I preached the 9:00 and 11:00 service. Several people came forward to give thier lives to Jesus. It was incredible! Brown and I were praying with all of these people and then he called Vicki up to pray with them as well. Very cool. We then had a music extravaganza. Basically a singspiration... in the afternoon. Several churches were there and brought special music. They asked our team to come up and sing something. So, i grabbed an electric guitar and we all sang Celebrate Jesus. All i can say is that it was a joyful noise unto the Lord. I then preached another sermon for all those there. In the evening we drove downtown and saw the rest of Nairobi... what a contrast to the slums. We then ate at one of our host family's homes, Rose. She is a sweet lady with a big heart. Tons of Kenyan food! The fellowship was amazing... I can't begin to tell you how great it was. By the way, I'm now a member of the Kamba tribe. The Kamba's choice of weapon is a bow and arrow so... being the mighty bow hunter.... I am Kamba. I was also given a name... Munene (Moo neh neh). It means leader... everyone in the team is wondering why they would give me that name! :) There is so much more that I wish I could write but we have to get back to the hotel... Brown and I are in an internet cafe a block away. Not sure if we'll have more than sentences for the blog as we will not be near the internet for the next several days. I will text. Thanks for the prayers... pray for Kenya, pray for Redeemed Gospel Church, pray that God will continue to bless this country and their work in the Lord. Pray that God will show us our part in this work in the future. Everyone is healthy. Blessings, David

An email from one of the ladies

Trying to catch up on pictures while we have internet access. We have been staying very busy and we're looking forward to next week and spending some down time in western Kenya. This week has been so awesome. The Kenya people really know how to worship!! They are such beautiful people, generous, loving, happy, smiling all the time. We have felt right at home since we got off the airplane. David says he's Kenyan now, just needs a bit more coloring. David has been doing an awesome job at preaching during the revival. Each night several people have come forward to accept Christ as their Savior. One night at least 16 people came forward.

Text Update Sunday Morning

Hello Everyone, we had a awesome Sunday morning with Redeemed Gospel Church, our sister church here. The worship had an atmosphere like that of a concert, there were cheers and dances. They told me yesterday that I got to preach this morning, (ha ha ha) but God really spoke to the people and a great number made decisions for Jesus. Pray for our rest and energy. Long days but blessed days. -- David
